Les Turbulences and the FRAC Centre-Val de Loire
Set on the former military food stores, Les Turbulences, three golden protrusions designed by Jakob+MacFarlane, house the FRAC Centre-Val de Loire, devoted to experimental architecture. Exhibitions, screenings and guided tours make it an ideal place to start a conversation. A short detour to the neighbouring Campo Santo, a medieval burial cloister now used for shows, nicely extends the visit.
Terraces and nights in the city centre
Rue du Bourdon-Blanc, Place du Châtelet and Place de Loire line up terraces and music bars where students love to settle in. On summer evenings, life spills onto the revamped quays and concerts echo under the vaults. For a more cultural outing, the Scène Nationale and the central media library host plays, readings and talks almost year-round.
Festivals and a creative scene
Orléans beats to the rhythm of its Jazz Festival, the Rendez-vous de l’Histoire, the Hop ! film festival and Hop Pocket. Artists’ studios and independent galleries open their doors on special trails. On Lyad, members from Orléans share their cultural favourites and invitations out; it is up to you to find someone to take a front-row seat with.
